As Bordeaux is less than a hour to our west, and as it's the largest city in our region, we've made a point of visiting. At one point, Bordeaux was smaller - both in terms of population and influence - than
Bergerac, which is today a city of roughly 30,000 people. Times have changed, however, as Bordeaux's population currently stands at more than 250,000. The city has earned a reputation for being somewhat bourgeois - a result, it seems, of its associations with wine and chateaux. Interestingly enough, Bordeaux is the largest urban space to be designated a UNESCO world heritage site. Photographic evidence of the city - and its striking architecture - can be found above.
